During the follow up treatments, we will perform an assessment to determine your response to the prior treatment sessions. Each treatment will take 30-45 minutes long. Additional modalities, like cupping, moxibustion, scraping or some special manual manipulation, might be recommended as an add-on services to achieve optimal result for different specialties. If additional modalities are added, the full treatment will take 60-75 minutes.

If you are a returning patient who has not visit our office for over a year, please select "Re-evaluation with Acupuncture Treatment". We will have to re-evaluate your current health condition before providing treatments.

- Cupping: It is a therapy in which glass cups or plastic cups are applied to the skin along the meridians of the body, creating suction as a way of stimulating the flow of energy. These are pliable enough to be moved from place to place on the skin and produce a massage-like effect. Cupping can reduce pain and inflammation throughout the body It could be used for sore muscles, tension, neck pain, and common cold.

- Moxibustion: Moxibustion is a technique that involves the burning of mugwort, a small, spongy herb, to facilitate healing. While applying moxibustion, the patient will experience a pleasant heating sensation that penetrates deep into the skin. The burning of Moxa is believed to expel cold and warm the meridians which leads to smoother flow of Blood and Qi.

- Gua-sha: Scraping (Greston Technique): Gua-Sha, a.k.a. scraping, greston technique, involves a special tool that gently scrapes or rubs the skin over problem areas to facilitate Qi and Blood circulation, and to soften and revitalize the skin and tissue. It is commonly used to release muscle tension, tightness, and constriction.

Chinese Medicine Health Coaching will be based on Chinese Medicine's theories and perspectives. The goal is to maintain healthy living routines and prevent diseases from happening. You will be asked to fill out questionnaire about your health and be provided with an in-depth consultation and health coaching session with Ms. Hui-Tzu Yang, L. Ac. (NY & NJ), MD (China). After we evaluate your condition, an analysis report, which includes body constitution, health patterns, and individualized advice on lifestyle, exercise, diet plan and herbal supplement, will be given to you after the each session. Qigong, herbs, and acupuncture treatment might be recommended as well. During the follow up consultation, you will be re-evaluated and given modified health report.

EDUCATION

Hui-Tzu Yang is a National Board Certified, New Jersey, and New York licensed acupuncturist. Her background includes five years of medical training in the Medical College of Xiamen University in China majoring in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine. The program consists of four-year intensive training and one-year in-hospital rotation in major medical departments including General Surgery, Orthopedics, Obstetrics and gynecology, Neurology, Cardiology, Pediatrics, Internal medicine, Acupuncture, Chinese herbs and dietary therapy, etc. The program’s U.S. Equivalency is: Five years of post-secondary professional study. Remarks: Traditional Chinese Medicine is a recognized system of medical practice in China. The holder of the Bachelor of Medicine is entitled to practice.

She furthered her studies at the New York College of Traditional Chinese Medicine earning a Master of Science in Acupuncture. With a passion for medical knowledge, she continues to update and add to her skill set by studying the latest developments in the fields.

EXPERIENCE

After seven years of medical training, Dr. Yang started her independent practice since 2012 in various medical centers in New York and New Jersey including Long Island, Manhattan, Passaic, Wayne, and Ocean. In 2017, Dr. Yang founded GoodPoint Medicine in West Orange and Manhattan New York.

Yimin Tian, L.Ac., M.D. (China), M.S. Physiology

Ms. Yimin Tian has been an NCCAOM and New Jersey Acupuncture Examining Board licensed acupuncturist since 2018. In 1991, she received her M.D. in China and actively practiced medicine as a radiologist for six years.

After relocating to the United States, she received an M.S. in Physiology at UIUC. Subsequently, she has worked extensively in the field of cardiovascular research for over 20 years. Her medicine-oriented background, coupled with her wealth of experience in physiological research, has helped her develop a deep understanding of the human body, its issues, and remedies.

Despite her contributions both as a radiologist and researcher, she has always carried a passion for Traditional Chinese Medicine. In pursuit of this lifelong passion, she took a leap of faith when she decided to start studying acupuncture 10 years ago. Chenxia Duan, L.Ac., M.D (China)

Chenxia received her academic and medical training as a physician in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Zhangjiakou Medical College and Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China, as well as the School of Medicine at Kyoto University in Japan, where she studied Pulmonary Biology.

Over the last two decades, Chenxia was a research scientist at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Schering-Plough (now Merck), and most recently was the community liaison at Saint Barnabas Medical Center’s Center for Asian Health.

Chenxia joined Mecca in 2018 in order to return to her roots as an acupuncture practitioner and help patients from a variety of backgrounds to treat numerous conditions.
